As first reported on The HollywoodReporter.com, ‘New Girl’ star Zooey Deschanel has joined forces with the Digital Broadcasting Group for a second season of the web dating series THE SINGLE LIFE. The series is set to launch on Deschanel’s HelloGiggles.com website. The actress co-founded the HelloGiggles site and will serve as a creative consultant on the dating series along with her website partners Sophia Rossi and Molly McAleer. THE SINGLE LIFE centers on the chaotic and often amusing world of online dating. It stars actors Taryn Southern and Jeremy Searle who play the roles of Lisa and Kip. In the show’s second season, the couple, who met online, will continue their relationship while encountering all new challenges along the way. Joseph Gomes, chief creative officer for the Digital Broadcasting Group explained, “As we head into season 2, we wanted to reinvigorate the show and give it some new life and we felt that getting the HelloGiggles staff’s input into the actual program would give the webisodic series a new zip or vigor.” |

New Girl is giving Jess her very own Mr. Big. Dermot Mulroney is joining the cast of Fox’s rookie comedy as a love interest for Zooey Deschanel’s adorkably single alter ego, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively. The 48-year-old My Best Friend’s Wedding star will play a handsome, intelligent and wealthy gentleman who also happens to be the father of one of Jess’ students. They start off disliking each other but their chemistry is undeniable. Mulroney, whose short TV resume includes romancing Jennifer Aniston on Friends and headlining NBC’s ill-fated Rockford Files reboot, will appear in multiple episodes of New Girl beginning in March or April. |
